Sending a quick message to say we’re thrilled to shared Jade earned her Rally Novice title today :) This time with a score of 93 earning us a 3rd place.
Jade is now Can Ch. SilverHills Zulu Princess RN. We moved her up to Advanced this afternoon and she would have Q’d except she wanted no part of the high jump. Everything else she did really well on! Oh, well….we have until next year to perfect some of these finer points.

Ch. SilverHill’s Utah UD RA took AOM at the Medallion Rottweiler Club Specialty and BOS Best Veteran at the ripe young age of 11. He out moved all those young kids to make his owner and breeders proud! Congrats to sire owners as well! Looks good for 11, way to keep them young Cyd!

Just wanted to let you know that Nadia (Silver Hill’s Lindiwe) passed her TD test last weeked. She left all of her diva behavior at home and worked like a champ despite the fields being under water from all the rain we’ve been having and being slightly handler disabled (I do all my own tracking training and handling). We couldnt be more proud of her.

This is a copy of her portion of the test write up from the test secretary. We drew the third track of the day and it took her 5 minutes from start flag to finish article.

3rd was a rottie bitch (club member) with a stunning start, and worked methodically and steady right through the whole track, she took her turns like a quarter horse and she also urged her owner to pick up the pace so she could get to the glove…beautiful line handling the whole way and YES, another PASS!!!


I have also attached a picture of nadia and i with the judges and her ribbon.
We start training for her TDX and VST tests next week.

Now all we need is that last major so she can finish in the breed ring.

Beau continues to grow. I have no idea what he weighs now, but it wouldn’t surprise me one bit if he’s around 115 now. He is so heavy-boned. He seems to have completely skipped that gangly puppy stage in his life. As close as I can measure, he’s 25-inches at the withers now. I may take him with me to PetSmart over the weekend and put him on the scales. He also continues to eat as if he hasn’t been fed in a day. The food just vanishes.

I continue to be amazed at his intelligence, but what really amazes me is his sensitivity to my moods or actions. As an example, I was doing some polishing on some old cabinet hardware yesterday, using my Dremel tool and a small abrasive wheel. Beau and Annie were laying on the kitchen floor, watching me. The tool slipped and sort of bit into a finger…I said a few choice words in a loud voice. Annie paid it no mind, but Beau promptly got up, and looking at me over his shoulder, walked into another room and lay down. It really seems to affect him if I’m unhappy or angry. What’s so strange about it is that although I’m never angry at him (even when he’s gnawing on the woodwork), he seems to think it’s his fault I’m angry or unhappy about something, and it seems to really bother him.

Beau loves to ride in the back of the 4Runner. If I so much as open a door in it when we’re out back, or lower the tailgate window, he starts running around, barking and whining because he thinks we’re going somewhere. Annie can jump up into it, but Beau’s so heavy, he can’t. So he stands up with his paws on the tailgate, and I boost him on up into it. Problem is, when we get back from wherever we’ve been, he doesn’t want to get out. He just sits or lays there, looking at me. So I kind of have to coax him to the edge of the tailgate so I can pick him up and lift him down. I don’t let him jump out of it. It’s too high, and he’s too heavy.

I’m also amazed at how fast he is when he’s after something…chasing a ball, maybe. Annie is really fast, but she only weighs about 75 pounds. But Beau can get from one side of the yard to the other in just seconds, usually beating her to the ball. And he doesn’t throw either of his hind legs out to the side when running, either. It’s just this powerful, driving motion propelling him forward. For an 11-month-old puppy, he can be a bit intimidating to strangers…not agressive or threatening, just because of his size I guess. So far, he has not met anyone who comes to visit that he doesn’t like.

Annie will usually stay wherever she is in the house when I get up to go to another room, but Beau will follow me everywhere I go in here. Keeping an eye on me, I guess. Annie’s napping in the den right now, but Beau is right here beside me as I write this. My Rottweiler shadow. I wouldn’t have it any other way. Someone could come to the door and offer me thousands of dollars for him, and I’d say sorry, you’ve come to the wrong house.

It has been an incredibly fast eleven months with him. He’s gone from that little fur ball puppy to a real dog in such a seemingly short time.

I hope you are well, and that all the dogs are healthy and happy. Give Madera an ear scratch for me. A few photos are attached/included.

My girls are REAL working girls, they carry our drinks, what we buy, my purse,etc and their water and dish!!!

We just want to share with you the performance of Lewis, he did very well in September: He has now a 2nd title of championship (FCC, shows judged by FCI’s judges), he made it in only one week-end(Group 1st x 2, 3dr and 4th). He did great too in CKC, he is now 6th in Canada. We’ll go to Miramichi, NB next week-end, hoping he’ll continue his good job.

Jackie and Izzie won the State honors this past weekend in IL, Grand Champion Junior Showmanship, and there was quite a lot of competition. WE are so proud of them!

Just found this out before I left to go to mothers. Seems the AKC is now doing the Preferred dogs like the MACH dogs and rating them every month. When I called to check the girl said Boch was NUMBER 1 !!!!!!!!! Unbelieveable!!!!! Of course things will change but at least once I have living proof of just how good he really is! Maria

I wanted to share some recent pictures of Bruce with you. My daughter has taken some great ones but she never gets around to transfer them to me so I just took a couple with my phone;)

I just wanted to let you know that we truly enjoy our rottie. He is the sweetest dog ever and he loves everyone he meets. He has started to protect the house a little bit more lately, especially at night, but he rarely barks. He is a hoot, and makes us laugh all the time.

The dogs enjoy the climate here (we had snow from November to April :) and we have a lot of great trails close to where we live.

I finally got around to scanning her picture. It was an EXTREMELY HUMID day. Not bad for an 11 year old. I think she got her Novice when she was 9. Was entered 6 times, and passed six times with a second in her novice, and a second and a third for her Advanced. Short of lick granulomas or goopy eyes from all the pollen and the tumor I removed in December. NO HEALTH PROBLEMS. You promised me a dog that wouldn’t break down, and I am not sure if you remember, but I think my contract has a 4 or 5 year health guarantee. Guess I didn’t need it.

Thanks again for such a healthy dog. They are all wonderful and we love them regardless, but it sure has been nice to have a healthy dog. I know that stuff sometimes pops up. We can not see alleles on genes, but I will always say about your breeding that it is a rare exception to have a problem.

Boch went to ARC nationals and got his last triple Q on Tuesday to qualify for his TQXP title (a very difficult title to get as it requires the dog to work away from the owner and to go out and do something that he is told to do and not do the wrong thing while out there AND then he has to come back and do the two qualifying runs for STD and JWW just like always AND he has to do this 10 times for the title). Then on Wednesday he Doubled QQ in STD and JWW on the same day for number 19th QQ and then Thursday he Doubled QQ for number 20 AND his PAX2 title and the PACH2 title which will be awarded come July (but was earned that day).

Also at nationals he received his certificate for being in the top ten agility rotties for 2010 in Jumpers. He was also awarded (we assume since I have not received the awards yet) the Versatile and Versatile Excellent awards offered by ARC for rotties showing and earning multiple titles in multiple venues. With the VX being the highest award offered by ARC and requiring a CD and at least 17 points in other venues like agility, rally, carting, obedience, conformation, therapy, etc.

Now Rosie is just starting out - Rosie finished her two novice agility titles this weekend. She now has her Novice Agility Preferred (NAP) and her Novice Jumpers Preferred (NJP).

Just to let you all see Tubbs and Patrice doing the tracking thing. Tubbs was the youngest, and made us proud!!

So we all got together and made a photo for you. Of course, Miss Annie has to act like she’s two months old, but it’s the thought that counts, right?

This is a ritual performed several times a day, and I’m sure it’s one you’re familiar with. They look so fierce, don’t they…and they make all these growly-snarly-barky noises…but no one ever gets hurt…no one ever gets bitten.

We’d like to share some exciting news about our puppy, Eisenberg’s Heartbreaker (Rogue), from our litter out of Jade - Ch SilverHill’s Zulu Princess and Levi - MBIS/MBISS Grand Ch. VonRoth’s Everlasting TT, CGN, CD. At just 8 months old this Shaka grandson made us very proud taking not only a Best Puppy in Group but also a Best Puppy in Show! This accomplishment was all the more special as he was owner/breeder handled by John. Again a huge thanks to you, and Keith, because without Jade and the support you provided while we planned and whelped our first litter, we wouldn’t be anywhere near this stage yet.

Below are some sound bites from Jim’s email and pictures. Enjoy!

Beau’s latest portrait at 7 months, 1 week of age.

Beau has picked out two favorite spots in the house to sleep in at night. One is right beside where Annie and I sleep, but his real favorite seems to be the cool tiles of the bathroom floor. But he always returns to the bed in the morning when Annie and I are waking up, and he will get up in bed and snuggle until I’m fully awake and it’s time for us to go outside for their early morning yard patrol. And unlike Annie, who tends to run from one spot to another as she investigates this or that, Beau takes his time. You can almost see the wheels turning in his brain as he looks at things that interest him. But then, in an instant, he’s just a big puppy again, rolling in the grass, barking for what seems to be just the sheer joy of life, and running around the yard chasing Annie. I often envy them for their carefree, live-for-the-moment existence.

I’ll include one other photo here. They have scooped out a little depression at one of the driveway gates, so they can see out and keep an eye on things in part of the front yard. It’s just big enough to get their eyes below the fence level and stick their noses under it. I don’t worry about them digging out. They’re not that industrious, but they’ll lay there looking out for a long time, then move on to something else.

I was up at Westminster and did not even know that Maria requeted the following breeders certificate from Durham KC for titles earned in 2010! Boch is not yet 3 years old and he and Maria Walker have obtained 20+ titles per year in the last 2 years! Talk about versitle, he has agility, obedience and herding titles this past year. Thanks for letting me be joyous over their accomplishments.

Stella is a Bogie x Kiss daughter in NYC. I had the pleasure of visiting last time I was there. What a Diva!!!

Izzy is now Drydock’s Bella Vista, CD, AKC Companion Dog, CGC, Canine Good Citizen and TDI, Therapy Dog International, trained and handled by eleven year old Jacalyn Joan Klem. I hope I have the letters right, as I want to brag on Maria Walker and her now SilverHill’s Rustic Acres Boch RE, MXP3, MJP4, PAX, XFP. This is a hard working team to accomplish so much. Maria says that Boch is a crowd pleaser as he growls at her when while running the course if she lags behind or does not give commands fast enough.

Boch is also going to start on herding, as if he needs more letters!

Maike is doing great. Her growth has finally slowed down. She is now bouncing around 90 pounds. This picture was taken one year to the date that we picker her up. Sending a new photo and a old one to compare.

Legend, with Jim’s assistance, got his first Herding Title on Saturday, placing 4th with 70 points. The Title is for Course A, Started Sheep. Then on Sunday, we placed 2nd out of 11 dogs with a score of 88 points. Here is a video of the 2nd place run. Legend is doing great.

From Mrs.Joan Klem and Jackie: It was a great weekend for Izzy and us all. It started with BOB at the Elgin KC show Saturday morning followed by her first leg in Novice in the afternoon. Then Mom and Dad took them to Springfield for the State competition on Sunday. We are going to have to set up a bigger Trophy Table for Jackie’s room. Next is MRC and Jackie will add Junior Showmanship to Izzy’s slate. What fun we are having!

Local girl and her Rottweiler take FIRST PRIZE in the Illinois State 4H dog show
Sunday, August 29th2010, Jacalyn Joan Klem and Isabella “Izzy” competed in the Illinois State 4H Dog Show. In this competition each 4H club throughout the state of IL has individual Dog Shows and chooses the best entry to represent them at this prestigious event held at the State Fair Grounds in Springfield IL. During DuPage County 4H Club’s competition Jackie & Izzy won Grand Champion in the Obedience category, thus qualifying Miss Klem and her Rottweiler to represent their organization. During the competition which included 17 entries, the all kids and their dogs performed fantastically. In fact, prior to announcing the winners, the Judge had to have a run-off between two of the entries to determine second & third place. When all was said and done, the Judge choose Jacalyn and Izzy for 1st Place!

Just to share a picture of the Terrorist:

Did a herding trial today. Legend did awesome. I did ok. Got a qualifying score. I got allot of compliments as to what a great dog he is. Next week I have two conformation shows and an agility trial. Still at 11 pts for conformation, one more run for another agility title. Now I have more time to show him. I excited! Tomorrow I have another try at herding. The place I get lessons from has the best dogs at the trial. I’m very happy. They even videoed the runs. I’ll try to send them to you when I get them.

Mr. Boch got his PAX title this past weekend and qualified for the PACH title that will be given in 1/2013!!!!!!! The little man was super all weekend long and got a first double Q for his PAX 2 title. I am not quite sure how the AKC will list his titles but think that his official name will now be

SILVERHILL’S RUSTIC ACRES BOCH, RE, PAX, MXP3, MJP4, XFP /////////////////////// YEA LITTLE MAN WAY TO GO

In case you are not use to reading the titles he has his Rally Excellent, his Preferred Agility Excellent, his Master Std (times 3), his Master Jumpers (time 4) and his Excellent Fast Preferred and then the PACH which is Preferred Agility Champion!!!!

He is now working on his PAX 2 and has the Life time Masters Bronze titles in STD and JWW and is working on his silver Masters Life time and then onto the Gold Masters Life Time.

I had his runs video by the professionals at the show and when I get the DVD I will plan a time to get together for you to enjoy the runs.

As for the PACH title, the AKC told me that they will grandfather the dogs in who earn the title before 1/2013 when it becomes available. He has enough points by either the multiplier method or the straight method whichever one the AKC chooses to use to calculate by and when he got that 20th QQ he got the PACH also. We just have to wait to get the official certificate.

You would not believe how many people come up to me and tell me what a fantastic rottie he is and how super he looks and especially how willing to do agility and with such ability. He is a life time dream come true and I wish that we could clone him again when he gets into old age and retires from agility. Playing agility with Boch is so much fun and he makes it easy for me to do the run. When he does not Q it is because I have failed to give a proper direction cue or not given one in time. But even when I am late with the cue he will try his best to do what I am indicating even if it means jumping at super odd angles. He will then woof at me to let me know that I am late in telling him what to do and where to go but he does not hold it against me and comes back more than willing to go on.

We are on our way tomorrow to Greensboro for the four day show there. Hopefully you will be showing in conformation some of those days and can come by the agility building and watch some of his runs. Maria

I’m sending you a YouTube link of Dixie playing in the snow with her red ball. As you can see the snow doesn’t slow her down! Shes a delight and we just love her to pieces. We had to put Gussie down recently, it was awful losing her, she was so much a part of our lives. We’ll be getting in touch with you about another puppy, probably in the summer.

What has Hemi been doing lately? -Just look!!

Jim Ausbun just got back from an Agility trial and e-mailed to say that Legend double qualified and got firsts both times! He now has his first Agility title. Way to go Jim and Legend!

Stephane Sylvain wanted to say that SilverHill’s Shaky Oak Lewis is a Canadian Champion, winning groups and received his OFA Excellent and passed his elbow exams!

Legend sent pictures of a major win at the shows in Pleasanton CA pictures of his working on agility, carting, herding, obedience, therapy and OMG I get tired just thinking of all he and Jim are doing! He also passed his x-rays.

Congratulations to all owners and keep up the good work with your boys. Looks like I will be building both of these nice boys their own pages over the holidays.

Just a short email to let you know that this past weekend in Concord Boch got both his MXP and MJP TITLES!

He got the MXP title on a course where in the 20inch class out of 65 dogs entered only 8 qualified!!! BOCH was one of the 8 who qualified. I am so proud of him that he handled such a difficult course and handled it so well. Then to get both titles on the same day with a double Q that was the icing on the cake! He went on the double Q again the next day again on some very very difficult courses. He now has 4 double Qs toward his PAX title. So over the Concord weekend Boch qualified 6 times taking either first or second each time!!! WAY TO GO LITTLE MAN!!!!

How could I forget the biggest brag of all -

Boch got the following titles in just 8months 2 weeks time table from when he started showing in agility

NAP NJP OAP OJP AXP AJP MXP MJP !!!!!!!!!! in just 8 months 2 weeks time

The Madera pups were born on my birthday!

Carsten (Shaka x Katy kid) is waiting to become a little more seasoned as a Therapy dog before calling the TV stations. The more positive press Rottweiler’s can get, the better. Amy included a few pictures. With HIPPA laws now it is harder to get pictures.
Amy is hoping to be able to take some pictures in the Pediatrics Oncology unit and at the library. Carsten is working in active rehab. He will be doing some retrieving of items thrown by patients, following commands (voice therapy) walking by walkers, offering emotional support and helping to build confidence. It is an important job for such a young boy but
Amy believes he is up to the task. He is becoming quite popular with the staff as well. They will stop him in the halls and ask him to play dead or roll over. Some walk past and ask him for a high five. He is always willing to show off.. Amy and Carsten.

We have some brags to share.

At the Dartmouth Kennel Club Show in Dartmouth, Nova Scotia, on Aug 9 & 10, Jade (Shaka x Katy) owned by Dale MacMillan & John Ring of Eisenberg Rottweilers, took WB, & BOB two out of three shows over adult females - earning 4 pts. She now has a total of 6 pts towards her CKC ch, and these wins also gave her the major she needs. And all this at the young age of only 10 months!

A littermate, SilverHill’s Buttercup, was shown by Mary MacCollum in Owego, NY and took her first AKC points on Saturday and Sunday, also going BOW and BOS both days.

And Murphy (sire to Katy’s current litter) took 2 BOB and a Group 4 at the same show!

Dixie lives in Maryland and is from the Ch Rustic Acres For All Time CD RA x Ch SilverHill’s Madera litter. Dixie has great work ethic! She never tires of this game, when we get tired of throwing the ball she just herds it all over the yard on her own, it really helps with her energy level. She has soooo much more than Gussie (the dog they obtained from me years ago) did at a year old! Enjoy!

A BIG congratulations goes to Judy Koloski (owner), Linda Hylton (handler), and all that helped along the way to get ‘The Brat’ to Ch Windrift’s Bodacious Brat this past weekend. Bratty is from the Gilly x Buster litter where we now have had 3 boys (Jeter, Bogie, and Wilson) and 1 girl (Brat) to finish. Way to go Judy! Don’t worry, I will get Babe to the shows to complete her CH also, promise.

This past weekend, Nicki completed her TD degree in tracking in Durham, NC. With the other titles she has, she is now a VCD1 which is a Versitility degree. Way to go NICKY!

Maurine Teleski did very well with her grand kids from SilverHills (and sons and daughters of her first litter from Cash and Tilly at the Working Dog Show with a best in sweeps and multiple class wins and placements! Why to go Maurine!
